Wow - turns out I'm an amateur on the cookbook-collecting front.
I've got something like 265 books, VK has about 300 and, after Dad carried out a quick count, it turns out that Mum has 313 on the shelves 'plus all the others scattered around the house'.
It's nice to have something to aspire to. Just don't tell Mr B - he might come over all peculiar.

ok u have 265 books and mum has 300+, but your 30 and she's - hang on how old is she? damn I should probably know that - she's definitely a fair bit older, so it is still scary that you've got that many when she's had what nearly twice as long collecting?

Right - first off, thanks for telling me how old I am. I get it - I'm officially old! Second, your mum, who is also coincidentally my mum, is a wonderful 62 years of age. Third, VK is younger than me and she has more books, many of which I covet and often plan to steal, er, borrow. She wins all round on youth and book collecting, methinks.
I would like to point out that I am also getting older at the same rate! But what is much more scary is that somehow I have discovered myself to be in possession of 5 cook books myself (not including the 2 or 3 I managed to 'lose'), and I swear I've never bought a single one!
